Valentine's Day- a day I used to fear as a young adult, thinking I would never find that one man that just stole my heart and made me happy. God was just teaching me patience because eventually at the most random of places a good looking army man came up to me and asked me to dance. A couple weeks later he had to go to Kosovo for 6 months, so it was a short lived fling, but we had fun. While he was in Kosovo I got a few short emails, even a teddy bear wearing a purple t-shirt (my favorite color) for my birthday, but in my head I kept telling myself he was just some army guy and not what I really wanted. When he got home I offered to take him out to dinner for his birthday... and we've been together ever since! Since Justin and I found each other, Valentine's Day has become one of my favorite days. Some say they hate it because of all the commercialism. I love it because we can celebrate love! I'm cheesy, but I'm also head over feet crazy for Justin Lee Powell, my Valentine.
Yesterday morning I woke up with a kiss, and then the reality of a Sunday morning came into play. We were getting ready to go to church so we had the usual hustle and bustle of a Sunday morning: everyone needed to eat breakfast, Hayden needed to bathe, Ellie needed to find tights to wear under her dress, typical chaos. As I'm sitting at the table feeding Hayden his instant apple and cinnamon oatmeal, Justin sneaks up behind me and puts a beautiful red rose on the table in front of me and a beautiful card. At this point the beautiful moment is about to end because Ellie starts to get all teary eyed. No, she wasn't full of emotion about how much her Mommy and Daddy love each other. She felt left out because she didn't have a Valentine. We tried to tell her that Grandma and Grandpa had sent her Valentine's she just opened them early. Her friend Kayla made her a special Valentine, but it didn't matter. She was sad at the moment. Her Daddy comforted her and all seemed well.
Our preacher taught about God's Banner Over us is Love, and told husband's that they should always have a banner of love over their wives. I have to say, Justin held that banner high all day. Every chance he got, I got kisses and was told that he loves me. I LOVED IT!!!
Our awesome neighbor came over to babysit and Justin and I went out on a date! We saw the movie Valentine's Day, which I loved!!! and then we went out to dinner. The wait at Olive Garden was going to be 1 1/2 hours so we went to Pizzeria Uno. Not the most romantic restaurant, but it was yummy and had a much shorter wait time! We took our time, ate, talked, laughed, kissed. It was wonderful.
All in all it was a wonderful day!! Justin, you will always be my Valentine. I love you!!!
