Blizzard of 2010
We have had more snow this winter than I've ever seen in one winter, and I'm from Ohio.
Last Friday and Saturday we got a total of 30 inches and today and tonight we are expecting 10-20 more. These pictures show what accumulated at our front door. We tried to get the kids to stand by it so you could get a sense of how high it is. As you can see Ellie likes to dress in a skirt and t-shirt, even during snow blizzards. Never in my 11 years of teaching have I had over an entire week of school called off because of snow. I'm loving it! We played in the snow at our friends house and got to sled down their front yard. We all had so much fun. Ellie loved just sitting down and sliding down, no sled or anything. Well, this afternoon she and I decided to take our little metal sled disc and go to our neighbors house behind us and sled down their side yard into our back yard. We walked all the way down the block to get to their yard, and we found it was too deep and soft to sled down. Ellie had on snow pants, me...jeans. (It was all I had!) We decided to walk in our back yard to get home. The snow was literally to my upper thigh, very close to my waist. It was too deep for Ellie to walk in so I picked her up. I probably got about 15 feet, my legs were soaking wet and freezing. Ellie ws enjoying the ride, but I was miserable. Luckily, Justin was working from home and we were able to call for help! I didn't really think he could do anything to help us, but I was seeking a little bit of sympathy. I know we must have looked hilarious. Well, he was our hero. He opened up the side window in our dining room, removed the screen and we went in through the window!! It would have taken me forever to get to our front door, and it was totally worth it to make the carpet all snowy in our dining room. I can't imagine how funny it must have looked to see me trying to climb up into our window. Eventually I warmed up, and when Justin was done working we decided to go out in our four wheel drive and buy snow pants!!! I don't recommend playing in the snow in jeans.
