Texas

So, on Thursday July 1st I woke up so excited because my best friend in the whole world was going to come visit me! We'd been planning this visit for months! That same morning, Justin woke up and got ready for work like any other workday. He comes in to kiss me goodbye and says that he talked to his Dad and that Granny wasn't going to live through the day. Granny is Justin's grandma and the kids great grandma. He decided we needed to leave that day to drive to Texas so we could be there for the funeral. I called Amanda to break the news and she was already at the airport. Luckily, she hadn't checked any luggage yet and was able to reschedule everything for the first weekend in August. Later that day we got a phone call that Granny had passed away. We drove to Texas... A LONG ROADTRIP!! The kids did a great job, considering they watched every movie under the sun. When we finally got to Texas we ended up having a great trip considering the circumstances. It was so good to see so much family. We went to a fourth of July cookout at Aunt Nita's, had a fish fry at Justin's Dad's house, spent a day at Fire Mountain go-karting, bumper boating, playing putt putt, drove to Texarkana and had dinner with one of my closest friends from college, went out to dinner to celebrate the birthday of a good friend of ours, barbecued on the grill at Justin's mom's house, went bowling and swam every single day. It was a full, fun trip. We started driving home today and decided to break up the long road trip this time by stopping at the Jackson Zoological Park in Jackson MS. Not the best zoo ever, but it was more fun then riding in the car nonstop. I've actually had the chance to read some books because Justin did ALL the driving. It's been a great trip and I am sooo ready to be home!! Besides having to detox the kids from all the sugar they ate at two different grandparent's homes, and hoping Hayden's recent behaviors are due to being spoiled from grandparents and not a long term stage he's going through. I am so thankful we've had a safe and happy trip. Mrs. Viola Powell will be missed! She was quite the woman, Mother of 11, Grandmother of 63 and Great grandmother to 24!! Wow!!!
